Here are the details of the finalized seven player trade.
Red Sox acquired RHP Josh Beckett, 3B Mike Lowell and RHP Guillermo Mota from the Marlins for SS Hanley Ramirez, RHP Anibal Sanchez, RHP Jesus Delgado and RHP Harvey Garcia.
There is word that Mota was thrown in to compensate for the some of the health risks that Josh Beckett has(shoulder, blisters).
ESPN just reported the Rowand for Thome deal.
It’s being reported the White Sox are trading Aaron Rowand to Philly for Jim Thome and cash.
I’m really not sure why in the world they would do this. Does this limit them in the Konerko sweepstakes, or is Thome just going to DH?
Mets are also trying to Acquire Billy Wagner from Philly.
One season later, Carlos Delgado is headed to the New York Mets.
The Mets reached a preliminary agreement Wednesday to acquire Delgado and $7 million from the Florida Marlins for first baseman Mike Jacobs and pitcher Yusmeiro Petit, a baseball official familiar with the talks said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the deal was not final.
MLB has reportedly given the Florida Marlins owners permission to look for a new home for the team. This doesn’t necessarily mean they will be leaving South Florida, but this smells like it could be the beginning of the Marlins to Las Vegas talk.
I think everyone knows that a baseball team in Vegas will def. prosper and it is bound to happen. We will keep you posted on where the Marlins are projected to move to.
25 Year Old Stud, Josh Beckett and 31 year old 3rd Baseman Mike Lowell have been traded from the Florida Marlins to the Boston Red Sox for two top prospects, SS Hanley Ramirez, SP Anibel Sanchez and a PTBNL.
Without even thinking twice, this could easily be the biggest transaction of the whole 2005 offseason. It comes to a big surprise to most of us following the hot stove season, seeing that the Rangers were the only people being discussed in a trade for Beckett and Lowell.
This trade(once completed) will significantly upgrade the Red Sox starting pitching rotation and should be a solid increase in offense and defensive production at 3B, if the Red Sox decide to keep Lowell and not resign Bill Mueller.
ESPN’s Peter Gammons is reporting that the Red Sox will acquire Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell from the Marlins for Hanley Ramirez, Anibal Sanchez and a player to be named.
