Renteria, a two-time Gold Glove and three-time Silver Slugger Award winner, hit .276 with eight homers and 75 RBIs with the Red Sox last year. The 30-year-old shortstop also committed a career-high 30 errors, which caused him to fall out of favor with Boston’s management and fans.
Marte has long been considered one of the finest prospects in the extremely fertile Braves farm system. The 22-year-old third baseman hit .275 with 20 homers and 74 RBIs for Triple-A Richmond this past season. In 57 at-bats with Atlanta last season, he hit just .140.
Hopefully Renteria will do better now that he is back in the NL. I hate to see Atlanta give up Marte but he didnt show me much this past season but I still think he will be a star.
